a family tradition....
I come from a long line of Breton charpentiers, practicing traditional French timber-frame construction like that which supports the roofs of France’s Great Cathedrals. My family has always selected, felled, and milled the woods they used. Today Scierie Jallu, my father's lumber mill (in Le Pertre department 35), still specializes in walnut, cherry, oak, and other choice hardwoods, all harvested from French forests that have been carefully husbanded since the reign of Louis XVI.

a little background
I studied cabinetmaking in northwestern France for four years, at both L’Ecole Technique de Giel and the Lycee Technique Notre Dame, in Fontenay Le Comte. The training was rigorous and included guild examinations in joinery and cabinetmaking. But it was during the following seven years, as a "journeyman ebeniste" in a series of respected ebenisteries/workshops (Societé Souchon in Nimes, Lacombe Ltd. in Rodez, Saint Sulpice in Bresse, and Batibois Ltd. in Aberieux en Bugey) throughout France, that I received my true education. Most recently I was the principal ebeniste with Atelier Viollet, in New York, for 6 years, one of the most esteemed builders of custom furniture in North America. There I learned English and worked closely with designers and architects on both sides of the Atlantic, in New York, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, and Las Vegas. I married my bosses secretary, and we moved to Brittany to open our own workshop, et voila!
My Philosophy
From concept to completion I apply my highest skill, no matter the size of the job. I also believe that a true craftsman is also a draftsman. Given the proper degree of discussion and collaboration, I can transform even a sketch on a napkin into a complete plan for construction.
